MARMOTILE: High-Performance Polymer-Modified Tile Adhesive
MARMOTILE by Marmo Solutions is a high-quality, cement-based, polymer-modified adhesive engineered for the secure, permanent installation of ceramic tiles, mosaics, and small-to-medium-sized tiles across interior wall and floor surfaces. Classified as an EN 12004 C1, IS 15477:2019 Type-1T, and ANSI A118.4 standard tile adhesive, MARMOTILE offers dependable bonding strength, smooth trowelability, and extended pot life. It is formulated for everyday residential and commercial installations, providing moisture-resistant, non-sagging performance across standard masonry substrates, screeds, and plaster.
Specially engineered with selected polymers and graded cementitious binders, MARMOTILE delivers reliable adhesion even in damp internal environments such as residential bathrooms, kitchens, and washrooms. Its balanced open time (20–30 minutes) and adjustability window (up to 20 minutes) ensure on-site productivity and precise tile alignment. MARMOTILE prevents debonding, hollow spots, and slippage when applied within its specified parameters, providing a durable, economical adhesive bed for interior ceramic and mosaic work.

Application Guidelines
- Surface Preparation: Substrates must be sound, clean, flat, and completely free of dust, grease, wax, curing compounds, or loose particles. Repair cracks and voids beforehand. Pre-dampen dry or porous absorbent masonry surfaces with clean water prior to application, avoiding standing pools.
- Mixing: Pour 4.5 to 5.0 liters of clean, potable water (≤ 200 TDS) into a clean mixing vessel, then gradually add 20 KG of MARMOTILE powder. Blend using a slow-speed mechanical stirrer until a creamy, lump-free paste is achieved. Let the mixture slake (rest) for 5 minutes, then re-stir briefly before application.
- Application: Apply adhesive to the substrate using the flat side of a trowel, then comb with a suitable notched trowel. Spread only as much mortar as can be covered within 20 to 30 minutes. Firmly press and twist tiles into position to ensure full bedding. Check alignment and make adjustments within 20 minutes.
- Grouting & Traffic: Allow the adhesive bed to cure undisturbed. Restrict foot traffic and do not grout joints until the installation has cured for at least 24 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
- What is MARMOTILE?
MARMOTILE is a cement-based, polymer-modified adhesive designed for installing ceramic tiles, mosaics, and small-to-medium tiles on masonry walls and floors. - What standards and classifications does MARMOTILE satisfy?
It complies with EN 12004 (C1), IS 15477:2019 (Type-1T), and ANSI A118.4 specifications. - What is the mixing ratio for MARMOTILE?
Mix one 20 KG bag with approximately 4.5 to 5.0 liters of clean, potable water (≤ 200 TDS). - What is the pot life of the mixed adhesive?
At 25°C, MARMOTILE has a working pot life of up to 4 hours. - What are the open time and adjustability windows?
The open time is 20 to 30 minutes, and tiles can be repositioned within 20 minutes of placement. - Can MARMOTILE be used in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens?
Yes, it is formulated to resist moisture and maintains bond strength ≥ 0.5 N/mm² after water immersion. - Is MARMOTILE suitable for outdoor facades or heavy stone slabs?
No, for exterior facades, heavy stone slabs, and large format vitrified tiles, higher-grade adhesives like MARMOFLEX-T (C2TE / Type 3TS1) are recommended. - What is the tensile bond strength of MARMOTILE?
It delivers ≥ 0.5 N/mm² under dry conditions, post-water immersion, and after heat aging. - What colors and packaging sizes does it come in?
MARMOTILE comes in Grey color in standard 20 KG moisture-resistant bags. - Can I add sand, cement, or extra chemical admixtures to MARMOTILE?
No. MARMOTILE is a pre-blended polymer-modified mortar; add only clean potable water. - What is the average coverage of a 20 KG bag?
Coverage is approximately 1.5 kg/m² per mm of bed thickness, providing about 4.5 to 5.5 m² at a 3 mm bed thickness. - Can it be applied directly onto painted or polished surfaces?
No, painted, polished, or non-absorbent surfaces must be mechanically abraded or primed prior to application. - What is the permissible ambient application temperature?
Application should be carried out between +5°C and +35°C. - How long should I wait before walking on the floor or grouting?
Wait a minimum of 24 hours before opening the floor to light foot traffic or beginning tile grouting. - Does the substrate need to be dampened before application?
Highly absorbent masonry substrates should be lightly pre-dampened to prevent sudden loss of mix water, but avoid standing water. - Can MARMOTILE be used for mosaic tiles?
Yes, it is suitable for small mosaic and ceramic tiles on properly prepared internal masonry beds. - How should tools and hands be cleaned after installation?
Clean tools and excess surface mortar immediately with fresh water before the cementitious binder sets. - What is the shelf life of MARMOTILE?
The shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored in unopened packaging in a cool, dry place. - Is MARMOTILE suitable for underfloor heating systems?
For heated screeds and thermal deflection, a high-flexibility deformable adhesive (such as C2TE S1/S2 grade) is recommended. - Who manufactures and markets MARMOTILE?
It is manufactured in India by Anav Industries (Jhajjar, Haryana) and marketed/distributed by Marmo Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (Delhi & Mumbai).
