Application & Handling

1. Substrate suitability. Engineered for rough, sawn, unpolished, honed, and rustic marble and limestone. Always apply to rough and unpolished surfaces to optimise absorption. Do not apply to polished, glazed, vitreous, or non-absorbent surfaces.

2. Surface preparation. The stone must be structurally sound, clean, completely dry, and free of dust, cutting slurry, oils, wax, grease, or previous coatings. Clean with a neutral pH stone cleaner and allow it to dry completely. The stone must be dry internally, not merely surface-dry.

3. Dipping / immersion (recommended for slabs and blocks). Use MARMODENSIFIER neat as supplied (no dilution). Fully submerge the marble in a dipping tank for 12–24 hours, depending on thickness and porosity. Remove, drain, and air-dry on racks for at least 24 hours. Wipe away any excess pooled liquid before it dries to avoid residue marks.

4. Surface application (in-situ or horizontal surfaces). Apply evenly using a clean lint-free cloth, sponge, roller, or applicator. Allow the product to penetrate until the surface is fully saturated (typically 30–60 minutes). Thoroughly wipe off all excess with a clean, dry microfiber cloth before it dries.

5. Curing. Initial cure is a minimum of 24 hours before moving, fabricating, or heavy use. Maximum hardness, strength reinforcement, and porosity reduction are achieved after 28 days. MARMODENSIFIER significantly reduces porosity and water permeability, but does not make the stone completely stain-repellent against oils or organic stains. For full stain and oil repellency, apply a specialised penetrating sealer (such as MARMOBARRIER, MARMOBARRIER-W, or MARMOIMPREGNATOR) after initial curing.
